SDP 25: Common Derivatives

In an increasingly dynamic and evolving commodity trading environment, this online SDP equipped students with a strong foundation in common derivatives and their practical applications. The programme covered an introduction to commodity markets, commodity indices and the fundamentals of futures and options. Participants gained insights into the effective use of commodity derivatives for hedging and risk mitigation.

The session also highlighted key aspects of the trading mechanism, clearing and settlement processes, and essential risk management practices. In addition, students were familiarized with the legal and regulatory framework governing commodity derivatives, along with important considerations related to accounting and taxation.

Emphasis was placed on maintaining ethical practices through the code of conduct and understanding investor protection measures. Interactive discussions and real-world examples enabled participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of commodity derivatives and their role in modern financial markets.
